About New Madrid, MO - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

New Madrid, MO is a city located along the Mississippi River’s Kentucky bend. It is situated 42 miles from Cairo, IL and is just north of a Fulton County, Kentucky enclave. This city was founded in 1777 and was later known for being near the Battle of Island Number Ten as part of the U.S. Civil War. The area was used for cotton plantations and later built lumber mills, a cotton gin, and a grist mill. Today, New Madrid serves as the county seat of New Madrid County and is home to about 3,100 people.

There are several notable attractions located in New Madrid. This is a historical city, and notable destinations for history buffs may include the Missouri State Historical Society, the New Madrid Historical Museum, and the Higgerson School Historic Site. Art enthusiasts may enjoy a trip to the Hart-Stepp House Art Gallery or the River Walk Gallery. Golf fans might enjoy a trip to the New Madrid Country Club, and specialty shops include the Corsage Shop and Pat’s Variety Shop.

Proper climate control systems are imperative when living in New Madrid, as this region will experience four very different seasons. The summer months tend to be humid and hot, and at times, temperatures can reach well into the 90s. This can lead to extremely uncomfortable living conditions if you don’t have a properly serviced AC unit at home, and investing in one will keep your home cool while also improving the quality of the air that you breathe indoors.

During the winter months, weather extremes are also common. New Madrid doesn’t get as much snow as parts of northern Missouri, and temperatures are slightly warmer. However, overnight lows often fall below freezing. When sleet and rain occur and combine with low temps, freezing conditions often result, so it is extremely important that residents stay safe with a furnace or heat pump at home.
