About Benton, MO - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Located in Scott County, MO, Benton is a small city and the county seat. As of 2010, fewer than 900 people called this community home. Benton is also small geographically, consisting of only about a half of a square mile in total area. This community was founded in 1822 before being named for Thomas Hart Benton. Benton is located about 20 miles south of Cape Girardeau, Missouri and 18 miles north of Sikeston, Missouri.

With only several hundred people calling Benton home, there are few notable attractions or destinations found within the city limits. Some stores are located here, including Boomland, which is a popular gift shop, Hot Shots Archery, and Spalding Designs and Florist. There are also some restaurants for visitors who need a bite to eat while passing through, including Yvonne’s and Schindler’s Tavern. Fortunately, Benton’s close proximity to Cape Girardeau gives residents convenient access to that city’s attractions, including the Art Gallery at the Crisp Museum and the Cape Girardeau Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition.

Benton lies within a humid subtropical climate zone in which climate controls are needed throughout the year. The winter months see minimal snowfall, but residents shouldn’t make the mistake of believing that they don’t need a furnace or heat pump. Temperatures are still quite cold or even frigid, and freezing rain and sleet are quite common. A furnace or heat pump will keep indoor temperatures warm while also protecting structural elements and pipework within a home.

Summers in the area tend to be hot, humid, and hazy. Average high temperatures might reach the upper 80s on an average day, although many days see thermostat readings reach much higher than that. Since outdoor recreation is so popular in the region, residents will want to have a cool place to return home to after spending time in the hot sun, making an efficient air conditioning system a hot commodity.
